Crikey! Could you at least wind your window down in Holland or did someone come round with gaffer tape to seal the cracks just in case?!

We actually did stop briefly, as my missus couldn't reach a tempting packet of biscuits on the floor behind her passenger seat. However, we both held our breath until we got going again.

Ha ha, we both managed on that score! It took about 3 hours to the German border, after which we were in free flow...

Out of interest - what happens if you don't do the tests upon return?

    found it

Failure to complete the UK passenger locator form or provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test, incurs a fine of £500 with laddering for subsequent offences up to a maximum of £4,000.

Failure to be in possession of a test package on arrival into the UK incurs a fine of £1,000, increasing to £2,000 where passengers fail to obtain a test package on arrival.

Failure to take a day two test incurs a fine of £1,000, increasing to £2,000 for subsequent failures.

if you could go and use the covid test stations they have rather than having to fork out all this cash id be less inclined to believe it was just a money making scam same as how they now charge silly amounts for airport drop off and pick up in the name of terrorism.
