It’s very rare for anything positive to make it onto the news agenda these days.

I'm assuming the OP is familiar with the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

The dolphins, before leaving, left a message to the humans they felt close to in the form of a glass fishbowl, on which were inscribed the words "So long, and thanks for all the fish".

Always been fascinated by whales and dolphins since being taken to see that poor creature on display on the back of a lorry on May Day Green in the early 70s.
One of my hobbies is kayak fishing, it has given me chances to see these beautiful creatures. Bottle-nosed dolphins tend to stay a fair distance away. Harbour porpoises will come for a slightly closer look. On one occasion white-beaked dolphins were zooming under and around my kayak like Exocets, but not surfacing. Once had a minke whale 'blow' 10 yards from me off north landing, Flamborough. That was one hell of an encounter.
Favourite experience was watching bottle-nosed dolphins surfing the swell at Beadnell point in Northumberland. Absolutely joyous experience :)

The idea we are the most advanced species on the planet has been proved wrong over thousands of years.
