Well, better late than never advertising BFC! Anyone would have thought we didn't have any issues :D

Should have advertised them months ago. Not doing so will end up costing us a fortune in lost ticket sales.

They have been advertising through the summer. They have held induction / training events too.

The club have been advertising or Doyle's have? This is the first one I've seen from the club to be honest. I've seen advertisements for turnstile operators and carpark attendants but not noticed a call for stewards before.

I guess it’s because they’re not the ones directly employing the staff. It’s a bit bad when you’re hiring a company and have to advertise for their staff too. It does make sense to do it though as it’s us who is losing out at the end of the day. I wonder if there is anything in our contract with them that means we get recompense? Obviously, it depends on what exactly our contract is for but you’d think that them not having the needed staff would mean that they’re not fulfilling it.

Doyles. In addition to their recruitment, a member of their team did a presentation to a course I am running, several weeks ago, and also gave them a stadium tour this week. Hopefully a few new recruits incoming.

I think the answer is the same as many places - just can't get the staff. I know of bars, restaurants, and other organisations that just can't get the staff in.
The positions have been advertised by Doyles. I'm guessing they are still short, and are using BFC networks to try and pull in more people.

Yeah, I get all that. I’m just wondering what their contract with us actually says and if they are breaching it by not having the required number of staff (whether through their fault or not).

No idea - maybe the restriction on away fans suggests they are operating within their limitations.

Remember that the old catering contract (no idea if it's still the same) had no requirement in it for the catering company to have any food for sale

Don’t understand why they’re trying to recruit from the fan base? Makes no sense. o_O

I know that at work we have contracts to supply X amount of products to certain companies on set days and if we don't then we get a pretty big fine and if we do it so many times they can cancel the contract.
To be honest after the conversation I had with someone at the club and after the Stoke city debacle and previously the Leeds United mess (which is the reason for a much reduced capacity at big games) I have absolutely no idea why we choose them ever again.

As for advertising, I do understand it's a bit daft having to advertise for their stewards on their behalf but if it's costing us thousands then surely it's a case of doing what's needed as early as possible.

Can’t see any one on here being interested in a job that doesn’t allow them to watch the match.

Quickly reaches an audience of thousands, each of whom may know someone interested.

It’s on the club website. Their is a vacancies section. This forum is another avenue. Can then be spread by word of mouth. Don’t know if they advertise int chronicle. Colleges etc. But that would reach a wider audience as well.
Guess fired May answer that one, as students would be an obvious target for me. Given it being evening and weekend work.

The club aren’t advertising on here.

‘Newsbot’ automatically pulls stories launched on the official club website. Just in case you thought that was someone actually choosing to type it out and post.

Plus, we no doubt all know at least one non-Barnsley supporting person looking for work. And if we don’t, but meet one in the coming days and weeks, we can tell them about this.
