I dunno, how many other strikers do we reckon we've got that have scored one in three in the Championship over two seasons? We've shown no attacking threat & we're turning on the best finisher/poacher we've had in twenty years who is being played as a target man. Barmy.
I don't think anyone is saying that he's always been rubbish, but over the last year his output has been severely lacking. Yes, you can point at the style of play, the service, any number of things, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that he's massively underperforming.
He scored less than 10 last season from.open play and no chance he will get anymore this season if 1st 3 games are out to go by
Was thinking the same thing last night. Maybe better for him to move on.. deff gone stale with with us..
I think he'd benefit from a 3-5-2 with Morris or one of the big Belgians alongside him. (As a last throw of the dice).
He played like this a the beginning of last season. I thought he was brokering a move away only to be in a state of shock when he signed a new deal.
I've raised this at various points over the last couple of years and generally got absolute pelters. He's been poor for quite a while now; goal return boosted by being the penalty taker. Don't know what's happened to him. He used to look keen, hungry for the ball....pouncing on everything & anything to get a shot away. Now his game appears to be backing into central defenders with little to no effort to actually challenge for the ball, then falling over and pleading for a free-kick. 'Yeah, but look at the running he does....look how he helps out at the back!' I don't chuffin' want him doing the donkey-work. He's our 'star' striker - I want him up top making runs, finding spaces in behind the defenders and peppering their goal.
I hate this thread. Woodrow puts so much effort in, and I don't know what everyone else saw but he was our best forward last night. His goals have dried up a bit, but I put that more down to us not creating anything at all! He drops, he links play, he presses. He gave a great through ball to Brittain (I think?) near the end. We know he scores goals, we just need to actually create chances for him.
Thought he played well at Cardiff but was poor last night. Its probably a different story if we had Morris or a kieffer moore rather than a odour along side of him.And thats not knocking odour by the way.
I agree entirely with you but he's getting the same treatment as many of our better players in the past have with constant criticism from our fans, it's as if some love trying to drive our better players away from the club, these same fans who are slagging him off will then expect the club to sell him for millions. It is quite obvious that he is ploughing a loan furrow who is getting little or no service or no support instead of turning on him we should be getting behind him & asking the question of how to get him support & help up there but hey ho lets drive him away & then moan about having no quality up front
I think Schopp is trying to get us to play more of a counter attacking style, which would suit Woodrow if we do it well.
110 league starts. 42 goals Other comps 13 starts 7 goals 123 starts 49 goals. A rate of just over 1 in 2.5 games. But people think we are going to buy a better striker.
I've said this for 2 seasons now , he was top scorer last year with pens but his scoring record without em is ***** . Al be honest he's fallen well out of favour with me and Morris seems miles better , let's see what these new kids offer but woodlore needs to seriously up is game
We need to stop singing that song till he actually starts scoring again. That or change the song to include getting a pen and he will score.
