I'm going purely on the advertisement I've seen. I don't care whether it's on or off cos I'll be there..... Toodle pip!
Here he is Well we have had a mixed start. We blew Peterborough away first game but they were awful, probably the worst team we have played in two seasons in the Championship, hard to tell how good we were. We were then pretty poor away to Stevenage, our new signings who played in that game did not really look that impressive, they have nearly all come from lower leagues and it showed. So, we lost that. At West Brom on Saturday we were completely blown away for 75 mins. They looked like a very powerful Premiership side and we had zero answer. West Brom played a high full press and we could not cope but they tired a lot last 20 mins and we got a couple back but couldnt quite get a draw. So this is third away match in a week and I am not that confident. We have had a bad injury, illness crisis. Virtually all our defence have been missing so far, our centre backs Lockyer and Bradley, have been out with Covid, Potts and Rea injured. Same again tonight plus the excellent Clark was badly injured on Saturday and will be out and we are clearly missing last seasons star man Dewsbury Hall - probably as you will miss Mowat. We do definitely have more attacking options than last season but we are a creative midfielder short and our defence is thread bare at present. I last remember coming to Barnsley midweek on a freezing night in 1982 and our coach broke down. We arrived aroud half time to see us miss a penalty. The open terrace was icy rain swept we lost 4-3 and cant remember what time we got back. My prediction for tonight - 1-1 745 Luton fans. I will be watching on ifollow!
I recall that 4-3 win in 1982 at Oakwell... my one and only visit to Kenilworth Road was at the end of that season. A 1-1 draw and if memory serves me right, Luton were celebrating promotion that day?
We know about West Brom's pressing tactics. Our manager last season invented it We won't be missing Mowatt because he has been replaced by a better player - Josh Benson with Premier League experience at Burnley. Once our new manager realises that he has to start every match he'll be a star. Your 1-1 prediction based on what? I'd be surprised if you get a point. Until recent seasons a home win against Luton was the norm. It will be again, starting tonight.
And in the same world. Of course we miss Mowatt. Though Palmer has been quite impressive not sure if he is fit for tonight But not as much as we will miss Morris (injured) and Dike (gone) Our record at home against Luton since they rejoined the league is woeful. Only 1 win and one draw 5 defeats. I think with Morris out we will struggle up top. So can’t see us scoring many. Might nick a 1-0 but in another thread I predicted a defeat hope I’m wrong mind
We are missing Mowatt but hopefully Benson will be able to fill his shoes. Luton scored 2 away at West Brom so scoring one against us doesn't sound unlikely!
We look good defensively tbf 1 goal conceded in 3 games its just scoring goals our self which looks the worry for me.
Out muscled us. Expertly played the referee buying fouls that didn't look like anything much and time wasting to a fine art. Shocking team to watch, but then so were we tonight. Weak as water most of ours and clueless when it comes to putting a cross in. Hate to single him out but Brittain is going backwards. We had a player last season. This.....I just don't know what's gone wrong with him.
