Can see that happening too. They’ve got us by the goolies and Kohli will want to make us pay.

Yes, the likes of Buttler and Anderson should have some input. But ultimately, Root's the captain and he's responsible, and rather than keeping players focussed, he's gone along with the crazy short ball theory and spread out fields. The fact that Anderson hasn't bowled until the damage was done sums it up really.

Loving that they let a fast bowler bring up his 50, by belting a six.

Making them look like Lara and Richards in their prime.

RRR would be 4rpo if we bowled them out now. Declaration will surely come at lunch.

May as well, then they don't lose two overs either.

It's the last thing England would want.

If an unlikely England win looks like happening, Kohli can set negative fields, slow the over rate, and bowl virtual wides.
    Nevertheless good test match.

I suspect Kohli will carry on batting for a bit. He's a generally negative Captain and with only 2 games left, I think he'll focus on not declaring too early and allowing england to win.

The reality is England won't score quickly enough and there might be a rogue shower around. Not declaring would be further poor captaincy in this test match.

In all my years watching England that's the worst session of cricket I've ever watched. Low confidence batsmen wafting at good bowling is one thing but this was an absolute shambles. Awful tactics and everyone, including Anderson, looked completely lost out there.

Root should resign the captaincy and Silverwood should resign full stop.

Yes we're short of quality batsmen, we're lacking a quality spinner and we can't ever keep quick bowlers fit... but this morning, not for the first time, Root/Silverwood side abandoned the basics of cricket in favour of nonsense reactionary tactics. Bear in mind this was against a pair of tail ender's who both average in low single figures and we let them dictate the game.. for almost an entire session.

It's time for a complete overhaul of English Test Cricket because we're going nowhere fast. For me that starts at the top. We might still win games in this series but that's only because we've got the current world's best batsmen and a great number of quality seam bowlers in these conditions. Conditions which this India side is well known for struggling in.

If he declares at the end of this over he's just wasted 3 overs, strange! Did he put a massive roller on?

Light meters will be out, then they'll be no cricket at all.

Saddened to say it as a proud Yorkshireman but as good a batsman as he undoubtedly is Joe Root just isn't a captain he hasn't got the necessary skills. This isn't the first time an England team under his leadership has looked totally lost They completely lost the plot when two tailenders just didn't fold and Root didn't have the skills and assertiveness to bring the team back under control.

Sorry but I've seen enough now. After that bottled New Zealand series and playing the way we have today. This side needs sorting out and Silverwood is doing nothing for red ball cricket. Root just needs to be batting as he's too tactically naive to be captain... this is hardly the first time he's been making daft decisions in the field.
