corrected it for you I think I have to go back to trevor Kettle against Stoke about 10 years ago for a similarly awful performance
Completely lost the game. I’d said to my lad that there was something going to happen as he had lost control - two mins later there was the little brawl in front of the east stand, and he had no idea how to deal with it. Then the penalty - which he didn’t give and for the life of me I don’t know what the linesman saw to give it. I was right behind it in the east upper - thankfully it didn’t cost us.
It was bizarre. First half they had plenty fouls against them and I thought he was letting it go but second half he just seemed to lose his head and booked ours for anything and everything. How many did we end up with in the end? 7? 8? The penalty was also strange. I saw the tackle and then I swear he pointed for a goal kick. Just as he did, a woman wanted to get by me so I took my eye off it and by the time I sat back down, their player had the ball in his hands. Maybe I didn’t see his signal correctly the first time or is that what happened?
you saw correctly - then he changed his mind about 10 seconds later - not sure if the linesman gave it - though he didnt flag
Couldn't see from the back of the Ponty. Looked a clumsy challenge, however the mix up from the throw in was poor.
None of the fouls against Cauley seemed to warrant yellow cards, how he survived the match with his eye sockets intact I don’t know. Laughingly, Benson has a yellow for not retreating quick enough, no wonder it spilled over
Woodrow should have been sent off if the referee was competent and decided he was diving. Instead he just pretended nothing had happened
Collins got booked for having a go at the ref yet Coventry players were doing it constantly and got away with it. Certainly a very inconsistent performance from the ref.
Hard to tell whether Woodrow was a striker, midfielder or actor in that second half. We'll be a much better team when he finds his form.
I think he tried to let the game go and not give bookings in the first half. The more the game went on though he started to loose control and started to overcompensate with yellows flying all over the place. He was totally mental by the end
Shocking. Was watching on ifollow and it's up there with one of the worst performances. Purely lack of control. My Wall of Infamy 1. Willard 2. Kettle 3. D'Urso 4. Busby (Today's) 5. Clattenberg
I have always stuck up for refs on here more than most. However in the years to come his name should be mentioned on here anytime the likes of Willard, Kettle or Cain are mentioned. He was THAT bad. How lenient he was to Coventry in the first half I expected lots of bookings for them in the second half. Instead it was us and because we had eight bookings won't we now be in trouble with the FA for failure to control our players?
You do realise for the free kick and booking Cauley was never within a foot of their player who came close to Tom Daly with his somersault with tuck
Bizzare 2nd half performance......and yet i thought he set his own barometer when he didnt book their lad for the foul on collins in the first half. He also let lots more go...... some Cov lads were on 3 to 4 persistent fouls, yet second half the same challanges met with yellow for a red shirt. Match itself....that was a hard fought win and i thought the sky blues played the better footy but ill take those 3 points all day long. Proud of how we dug in and defended imho i still think we need to be sharper with our passing but overall this was doggid (spelling?) and if you cant win with style then do it with effort....today was the latter. God we need those strikers up to speed....and morris absence is a concern. Well done today boys great 3 points.
I think on balance, 4th worst ever ref at Oakwell is a fair reflection, win or lose considering the company he's in.
Woodrow was in the business of easing the pressure on us. One time he did get clattered and it was a foul. The rest of the time he was doing his normal pointless quest of playing their player rather than the ball itself. He needs to up his game because he wasn't a threat at all today.
