    I can certainly see how you can make such a definitive statement off the back of a 30 minute cameo in a cup match.

    It probably is wrong.

    The likelihood that he hasn’t improved at all in the years since leaving us 6 years ago as a 20 year old is very low. Especially when he was playing really well up in Scotland.

    Think that says a lot more than one 30 minute appearance.

    How much are you betting he didn’t watch the game and just saw that he’d missed a penalty?

    I think there’s a chance it was Cole who had our only two efforts at goal in the last 30 minutes!

    Personally not too fussed about the Carabao Cup. Sooner we concentrated on the league. Always annoys me that the second game of the season is the Carabao Cup.

    5 goals in 19 appearances when he was on loan. So, even if he hasn't improved since then but keeps at that rate, it's quite an improvement on the returns of some of those we have offloaded this season.

    He did well to get ahead of his marker and direct a header towards goal in the last 10 minutes. On another day, he catches the keeper off guard and we win 1-0.

    We then of course would have been praising the board for having the vision to bring back such an underrated talent, and stalwart of the clubs history. Within a year we're in the Premier League, within 2 the Champions League. By which time, Devante would have started and scored in each of England's 2022 World Cup fixtures. Despite a crushing defeat to Brazil in the semi finals, Devante is knighted having won the golden boot. Having scored 30+ goals for Barnsley in 3 seasons (and lifted the EFL trophy of course after assisting in a 1-0 first round win over Bolton), Devante takes an early retirement to focus on charity work. He wins a Nobel Peace prize for solving conflict in Israel, and is Times man of the year after solving world poverty.

    Or sumat.
