Never really got it. Understand it in some respects but when a club sign a player for lets say £250k and its all hush hush. It may be a mutual agreement between the club's and I get that. But ultimately the figures to some extent are revealed in later accounts. I just seems strange to me. Then Man City spend a much reported and confirmed £100 million on Jack Grealish. ....... is that just City showing off? Surely Villa would want the fee keeping secret. I never got it and not sure I ever will. Yours in confusion CS
Grealish had a release clause of £100 million which was public knowledge and they agreed to trigger. I think that's why it's come out. Would imagine it's also linked to the various businesses and sponsors and the stock market, which is why the bigger deals tend to have the fee associated with it.
I think clubs at the lower end of the food chain are reluctant to announce what fee they have received as it could affect what they have to pay out when buying a player , if your club has just received a sizeable wedge then another club might up the price of someone you want to buy because they know you have just received x,y or z amount & therefore screw you for a few extra bob , personally I cannot understand the clamour of fans to know the fee anyway , the balance sheet at the end of the season is what matters & that is available for everyone to see.
It's no clamour on my part. Just intrigued. For instance knowing we paid £1 million.and more for Sheron for instance still boils my p I s s to this day. But knowing Redders was only 180k makes me love him even more.
