Off to Billy Bootleggers on Saturday to see a band, couple of old mates of the Mrs from schooldays, she's recently caught up with on Facebook....... McCurdy Brothers. Not had a serious night in Nottm for must be 25 years, any recommendations? Decentish beer, good atmosphere, lack of underage kids preferably.
Not been out round Nottingham since Rock City was a thing. Back then it was also the big boob capital of the UK, which was nice. Edit: Just checked and apparently Rock City is still open, could have sworn it shut down?!
I did do Hooters after we played Forest once, a disappointment tbh as big boobs were not a requirement of employment apparently.
Only been to Rock City in recent years to see bands but there’s Hooters and I seem to remember a decent pub near it The Embankment
I remember that pub once running out of beer mid-afternoon on a sweltering bank holiday Sunday. Absolutely genius planning!
I used to enjoy those Rock City trips too lol.. Normally a couple of coaches setting off from the Royal
Went to Trent Poly back in the day and don't live too far away now, so get over for gigs and nights out now occasionally, or did pre pandemic - couple more planned soon though. Rock city is still going strong and your feet still stick to the floor, seen the specials, cult, charlatans, Johnny Marr, psychedelic furs and stiff little fingers there in recent years and was an ever present at student night in the late eighties. As regards pubs, there's too many to mention, the canal house has a great selection of beers and does decent food. There's a couple more near there too. In the market Square there's the old bell, spankies on the corner near rock city, and the old angel in Hockney, plus many many more
Was last in there about ten years ago and the food was very decent. Heard rumours it's gone downhill though and now pretty much trades off its name.
Alchemist, Revs de Cuba, Pitcher and Piano (which is directly opposite Billy Bootleggers in an old church), All Bar One, all do decent beer and cocktails and should price out a lot of "kids". Pubwise, The Angel and Cross Keys are probably the best ones near to where you will be. Annie's Burger Shack have a great range of real and craft ales too, as well as doing excellent burgers. You really can't go wrong in Nottingham, unless you're wearing a Derby shirt.
Last went four years ago. Food was pretty good, possibly the most atmospheric pub I've ever been in. Photo of Edwardian era woman on wall, her eyes followed me roun the room. Canal house 18 months ago, food and beer spot on. Pub next door decent aswell.
