Really good night out. Lots of small impromptu stalls selling food and drink and then a load of randoms pull up in their trucks with great big speakers and lights on the back and start their own dance floor. Really accommodating to the tourists and all felt safe and welcoming. I'd recommend a trip there on a Friday night to anyone.
Oistins is open a few nights a week, but Friday is the big one. Can get very busy, but the food is tasty and the atmosphere is decent.
Also, if you’re in Barbados, be sure to visit a Chefette - they’re everywhere. Their all-beef roti is the food of the gods.
Cheers everyone but the missus has just informed me that Oistins isn't on the itinerary when were in Barbados, as it stands we're only allowed trips that are organised by P&O
The only thing I can see is a half day coast to coast tour of Barbados We have a full day & night so I hope it's changed before we get there.
Some “highlights” depending on what takes your fancy of course St Lawrence gap - lots of bars and restaurants Harbour Lights - all you can drink, stage show, disco etc The Boatyard - great during the day for beach sports Holetown - Up the west coast, quiter piano type bars, more upmarket than the gap For a trip out the north and east coast are amazing and largely unspoilt. Get to play dominoes with the locals.. seriously the best game ever If you can get there for crop over festival it’s cracking. note, all the above involve drinking copious amounts of banks lager and mount gay rum.
Oistins was great on the Friday we went. Delicious food and a great atmosphere. Definitely felt safe - we went there on a local Reggae bus
Would be a great stop off - not that far from Bridgetown and the cruise ships. It’s open on Fridays and Saturdays - but the Friday seems to be the main party night for the locals. We went just before Christmas and the subsequent lockdown. They LOVE Christmas in Barbados, it’s surreal
