The success of rugby 7s shows why football at the Olympics should be five or six a side, at least as far as the men are concerned. Full scale rugby wouldn't have worked, but by putting the reduced numbers format on display they've made it more engaging.
Bit mean I wouldnt wish an injury on anyone - though if its bad enough to make her withdraw from a team final it must make her very doubtful for the individual events which at least gives other athletes a chance. Massive well done to our women for getting a really unexpected Bronze by the way
It’s a shame they didn’t really show any of us as we were so far down the table for so long. Just got a medal in dressage now.
One sport I'd not watched before was the 3 x 3 basketball. Really enjoyed the men's final today as usually I find normal basketball really boring.
In British Olympic boxing news Frazer Clarke and Ben Whittaker are in the quarter finals at Super Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight respectively. Richard Torrez the USA Super Heavyweight is fighting later. Much more to say about Olympic boxing and other events but I won't write an essay haha, absolutely loving it though. Particularly boxing and aquatic events.
Any idea how to watch the fights back other than paying £6 for Eurosport. They just seem to be popping up in the highlights show later in the day. It’s a shame as at the last Olympics the BBC had the full rights & you could pick & choose what fights you wanted to watch. It’s a bit much getting up at 3 & 4am for them.
Surely you have a method for recording the telly to watch back later? We’ve had them for nearly 40 years now. Or have access to iPlayer to watch later?
IPlayer shows everything that was broadcast on the BBC but if you want the flexibility that you are used to you need to fork out for Eurosport or online then its discovery+
Really interesting and informative tweet from an expert on why Simone Biles didnt just bottle it and was right to withdraw
