It’s been coming for weeks that collision. Max was defending hard, cutting across Lewis a few times in the first few corners but Lewis should’ve backed out of that.
I bow to the expert analysts and former pros on this one, but Lewis was clearly ahead of Max and with the pace heading in to that corner I feel Max should have not turned in and hit him, as much as Lewis should have backed out.
Don’t think Hamilton did all that much wrong. Clear he was trying to turn away and had no grip. Think Max made a lot of assumptions that he could just close the door on him and caught him with Hamilton unable to move out the way.
Not sure he was ahead watching Karun's analysis a few minutes ago, looked like at best he was level, but feel when there was contact, Max looked ahead
Racing incident. Top 2 drivers in the sport wanting to win. If the stewards punish Hamilton then they may as well pack in F1.
Torn on it, Hamilton probably pushing a bit too hard and probably should get a penalty. On the other side don't like to see racing penalised. That's what we want to see wheel to wheel action
Let’s not pretend though that the Red Bull noises would be as scathing if Max was the one pushing on the overtake. They’d be saying the opposite. I feel like their tone is massively over the top. You could argue Lewis was mainly at fault, but you’d acknowledge that Max is on the outside turning in.
I’m biased towards Lewis but not sure he was ahead in all honesty. Max was very aggressive with all of his defending though and kept cutting across Lewis so not surprised he did it again.
Yeah can't really argue with any of that Do agree with Crofty when he was saying the whole thing is akin to players surrounding the ref with Toto talking about sending emails and then running up to see the stewards along with the numerous comments from Red Bull Biggest thing for me now is the impact on the race in terms of it being a contest. Really wanted to see a full on battle between the 2
I’m also biased towards Lewis which explains my version of events! Be interesting to see the post race interviews but there’s a race to won yet and the Ferrari has been improving recently and looked strong this weekend.
Agreed. I imagine Horner won’t hold back with what he says, I wonder if Max will be more diplomatic though? Will definitely be difficult for Lewis here with his penalty and Leclerc’s pace.
Might as well make F1 like the last day of the Tour De France with every race follow my leader style like the very overated Monaco always is.
I think away from the camera in a few races time, Max would be honest enough to say he was defending hard and would have tried the same move with that pace, clean air and then the slip stream. He’ll definitely tow the Red Bull line and criticise Lewis in the coming days.
A prime example of Lewis proving why people claim he's the best driver ever. That was a phenomenal drive! Other than Max no other driver on the grid gets close to pulling that win out of the bag from where he was. Superb and great for the crowd there. Was very jealous!
