Wouldn’t be a surprise to me mate. I rate him highly (Quality in spades) and saw him bossing midfield the first time I saw him. Took Struhber ages to realise what a gem we have, persisting with others that couldn’t lace his boots.
I think that was mostly to do with the amount of loans they had, too many for the match day squad. He might have also been signed by Moore but unsure on that. Silly place to send him on loan in those circumstances.
He’s shown glimpses of talent but nothing to suggest he’s ready to perform well in 40+ Championship games. Flashes of ability isn’t the makings of a good player. You nailed it with attitude anyway. Not sure he has the right one to be successful.
I hope it isn't like the Gordon Ramsey bit.. You've really surprised me! "Thank you, Chef" ..You've surprised me with how sh** you are.
Well Val didn't stick him in midfield. Admittedly midfield didn't do the job that normal midfields do, under Val.
Val played him though. I reckon to fill the void in that position. Whereas Struhber had him playing second fiddle to others until the back end of the season. Imo for what it’s worth. (nowt btw) I would have played him in his natural position where he excels.
The logic in parts of this thread is doing my head in. People predicting who they will be surprised by so that if they are surprised, they by definition will not be surprised. "Can't see Simoes surprising anyone" is exactly what someone about to be surprised would say.
Wouldn't surprise me. He's a far better player than Mowatt (and that's in no way belittling Mowatt, who is a fantastic player). As we saw with Mowatt, he really grew into the position so experience certainly plays a part. However Callum's talent is such that I am absolutely sure he'll revel in the position. He also appears to have an absolutely first class attitude.
I don’t think anything could surprise me with Simoes, I can see his career going either way. There’s definitely plenty of talent there. I can’t fault Ben Williams for effort & fitness but I just worry about his decision making & ability on the ball. He seemed to regularly get balls dropped into space behind him when he was playing in a back 4 through been out of position & as a wing back I don’t think he’s good enough on the ball. As back up he’s probably ok but I don’t think he’s good enough to be starting in the championship.
The BB a no brainer for midfield, two footed so not compromised in terms of dictating play as Mowatt was being so left footed, quicker than Mowatt too - I think Odour could be a surprise he has the pace and the skill - not sure of his best position though?
left midfield for me. But I think he could easily play the centre general midfield role. His defensive and attacking attributes better than Mowatt imho.
