Did he get substituted? Or was he on the pitch for the penalties ? Buggered if I know.... Just witnessed a 19 year old kid taking in major responsibility whilst elders sat back??
19 year old John Stones would have stepped up and chipped one into the top corner. Where was he tonight?
We have some poor quality posting on here. No player should criticised for not taking them. If Sterling has missed the last 3 (no idea if true) it would be stupid to expect him to take one. Also younger players with confidence are often a better bet for a penalty. I’m not blaming any players the pens is always a lottery anyway.
Quite remarkable really. Players are criticised for not having the bottle to take one, then criticised for having the bottle to step up and take one.
I'd like to think I could rely in a talented footballer of several years experience above a 19 year old well talented kid.... imo the elder should take the mantle You?
Nope! Not having it.... in my opinion there were a few ahead of Saka Just the way I view responsibility
And you'd still pick something with a shocking penalty record... Have a look at the beauties he took for city last year. There were a few ahead of him .. Stones , Grealish, more senior players
Southgate should be getting all the hammer for not trying to win the game, then putting ‘penalty takers’ on with 2 mins to go when because of his shitty defensive tactics they have no chance of even touching the ball before they’re expected to score the biggest pressure kicks imaginable. Southgate out
Sterling should have took a penalty as a senior player despite past misses. He would have scored it and had we won he would surely have got player of the tournament so he's ruined his chance of that by not stepping up.
