I enjoyed the game tonight and obviously wanted us to win, but the better team won and I'm already over it. I've enjoyed the Euros, but the England team will never come close to what it means being a Barnsley fan. Weird innit, club v country...

I think the difference for me is that when Barnsley win I'm happy, when they lose I'm disappointed (although nowhere near as bad as some on here get...).

When England win I'm happy, when they lose I don't particularly care.

Barnsley first every time everything else is take it or leave it. Disappointed a bit when England lose but it doesn’t hurt

Barnsley have been part of my life since I was 10. Over 35 years. And it always will. Week in week out. Other than my family, there's nothing else I can say that about. England is summat that crops up every 4 years. As much as I want us to do well, it doesn't even come close.

Not bothered about England at all. I'd take a Barnsley 1-0 at home to Peterborough in the championship over an England world cup win any day.

To echo the above. I’m actually more disappointed in the way we lost than the fact we did. First half I thought we deserved to be ahead but we were too cautious for the rest of the game I think had we been more positive we could have won the game but had we lost trying I would feel happier than than I do with the way things turned out

I’m not gutted though and will have forgotten about it tomorrow

    Barnsley v England no contest
England v Anyone else, no contest.
    Simple.
But anyone who says Barnsley v anyone in a non event at the end of the season, over an England crucial game wants their tits feeling.

This is why England don't win major competitions.

USA and England over Barnsley/any club all day

You're welcome to feel mine if you like! I just can't get excited about it.

I quite like Southampton as a club, for example, and I feel pretty much the same watching their games as I do England's. I like it when they do well, but I'd still rather see Barnsley get three points.

England played the tactics we used to do (trying to hold on). Until we started with our foreign coaches (forget Morais).

And why the USA do win so many, I guess?

Just so we’re clear. You’re saying the reason England don’t win stuff is that some fans care more about their club than their country?

Yep. It's a mentality thing I've heard England players talk about this.
Most players can't wait to play for their country, but for England it's more of a chore.. Seems to be a slight mentality shift this year which is a positive.

Most people in the USA don't give a crap about this sport but if they did I'd hope that playing for the USA would be the priority of all involved.

Out of interest which popular world wide sport do American men regularly win international competitions in? I'm thinking golf and athletics. Both of which have pretty obvious explanations.

For such a large country America is so bad at sport that they make a domestic competition and call it a world series to overcompensate
