It must be the week for the basket case clubs to file their accounts for the year 19/20.

Blackburn have just filed showing a loss of £22m for the year. Blackburn’s turnover is only £13.5m which is slightly lower than BFC, yet their wage bill is £25.6m, 190% of turnover!

They had an operating loss of £20.1m and took £600k of furlough money. Player amortisation of £4m was partially offset by profit of £3m on sales. With another £1m of depreciation on assets resulted in the £22m loss.

What is staggering is the accumulated losses of £280m. The owners are owed over £140m and they have an overdraft of £14m, which cost nearly £600k in interest last year.

Last three years losses of over £57m make Wednesday look like a model of prudence!

They need to get Dack back fit and sold and then it won't be too bad.

It’s absolutely mental that a bang average side can waste so much money on players. Seriously bad to negotiate stupid contracts with mid table players.

How much do you think they’re going to get for him?!

    https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/embargoes/

Useful little page on the EFL website that makes public the clubs currently under an embargo.

No Sheffield Wednesday on that list. Or Blackburn. Or many others who are massively up to their eyeballs in debt, and/or spending way above their means.

EFL are either bottlers on enablers. Either way not fit for purpose.

He's recovering from his second ACL injury within two years isn't he? 28-year-old this year. In the current financial climate in football, they'll get nowt for him.

Can't imagine why anyone would want us to run the club in a similar way.

Dack suffered his first ACL, just as his stock was at it's highest. The only other player worth any significant value would be Armstrong, but he's coming into the last year of his contract and 40% of any fee/profit they get on a sale is due to Newcastle.

They'll have given big contracts to Downing and Johnson, while decent sized fees and wages given out for Brereton and Gallagher. Not sure who they've sold for any proper money apart from Raya.

Said during last season, our games showed the league up for what it is. Full of players that cannot pass around an organised press, but still paid ridiculous amounts.

The thing is the crazy over valuing of players means they would only have to transfer out a bang average player to wipe out that debt.
Doubt any club will post a profit atm.

    Exactly that .
Also there’s an appeals committee in case they return a verdict that looks like it’s punishing these clubs it can be overturned .

Doubt Blackburn have a single player that they can bring in £22m for, unless they can convince Armstrong to sign a new contract.

In total, the club owe the Venky's £140m

You think Dack is Blackburn Rovers most saleable asset? You know very little about football.

Adam Armstrong is on his final year of his contact and will no doubt be sold thos Summer.

Does a £57million loss over 3 years equate to a points deduction?

Thought the maximum limit in a 3 year period was £39million.
