    A captain is a captain off the field as well as on it, why not have a vice-captain for when the captain has to be rested?

    That's usually a club captain off the field (selected by the players I assume).
    Team captain (selected by the manager) on it.

    I would say most teams choose a captain that is going to be playing most of their games. It would make more sense to have Sollbauer as VC.

    I remember Sir Bobby was 'Club Captain' while somebody else was Team Captain. Don't remember who now
