Some Athletic journo on twitter saying Murphy is out of contract at the end of June so can leave straight away with no compensation or notice…

    Surely not?

Well, if that's the case, you would think they'd have his replacement either in-situ or lined up ready to take over.

I would be amazed if he is on a fixed term contact that expires when the players contracts expire at the end of the season. its almost certain to be a more normal contract with a notice period

I can't imagine this being true. If it was linked to a visa renewal, surely you'd simply have a conditional clause in the contract, not have a fixed short term period where the individual can walk without notice.

The only examples I can think of at CEO level of contracts that weren't full time and permanent were interim appointments waiting for a full time replacement.

As mentioned on here in another thread, I suspect it's likely to be for visa reasons.

Bloody hell! Would the last one out the door turn the lights off. Val and his backroom team gone, Mowatt likely to go, Dane and the other fella going. Don't need all this upheaval.

I get the concern, but I was more upset when Norman Rimmington left us for heaven.

Yes it's a ****** in the Summer to potentially lose them all.

There should always be gardening leave periods/non-compete clauses(are non-competes legel here?) built into every contract of every employee that is privileged to the sort of sensitive knowledge the CEO of a professional football club would be. If we don't build that sort of thing into their contracts, then we deserve everything we get...

I've accepted Val leaving and believe the blueprint the club has put in place makes it easier for a new coach to come in and work with the existing squad.
I'm more concerned about Dane and the other fella leaving. Hope it's ******** but what will be will be.

With overseas contracts we are in the hands of Boris Johnson.

    I rest my case.

Long live Brexit! I'm looking forward to my picture of the Queen showing up anytime soon in the post, that as a tax payer I'll be billed for. Great.

Agreed. I like to say that I'd be surprised if we'd left ourselves open to that, but on the other hand it wouldn't surprise me at all if Dane showed up at Nottingham Forest and then within 24 hours they signed a bunch of unknown players from the USA or Denmark or Venezuela.

I've said it before, but for a club owned by some of what are apparently the most brilliant business minds in the world we don't half make some odd decisions. That said, happy to wait and see before judging!

Murray’s been telling us that the Mowatt deal would be sorted for almost a year now. Wouldn’t surprise me that he couldn’t sort his own contract out. ;)

This time next week we could have no Head Coach, Captain and CEO.
