not sure who's looked at the next stage, but winners of our group face either france germany or portugal at wembley, 2nd plays either spain poland sweden or slovakia, but in denmark, prefer the 2nd option pass on if we go through in 3rd place mind! another bore draw v's czechs do me
Before a ball was kicked in this tournament, I believed England had the Skill-set to at least reach the semi-finals but was unsure about the Mindset. After tonight, I still believe we have the skill- set. The mindset however, is a very different story as was displayed tonight in coaching tactics and players performances. I believe we’ll progress out of the group but I’m afraid a team who can’t be in a strong frame of mind will win nothing
harry effin kane needs to get his head sorted, he was a passenger tonight for 70 mins or so, drop him or get him firing is the key or we're fecked
Just checked Kane's stats. He's played 16 times against elite national teams and scored twice. Both in friendlies.
That option would mean us playing in Russia in the quarter final (assuming we made it that far). The bigger problem is playing so badly can't breed much confidence.
We're going to meet one of the top teams at some point. If we're good enough to win it we shouldn't be fearing any team. I bet Italy, Portugal and France aren't wanting anything other than to top their group!
Assuming Spain win their group we get a much easier draw in the next round. I don't think that's the master plan though. The master plan is to roll the ball slowly and repeatedly sideways across the face of the opposition midfield with zero movement ahead and a reluctance to play an incisive pass. I'm probably over reacting to last night but I genuinely believed we were better than this. I think we have a lot of the players to BE better than this but are saddled with a manager too cautious and craven to take necessary risks.
I don't know Helen to be honest. I can't believe they're not playing the way they've been told to play ie, low risk possession based football. I think we have the players to do much better.
Never win out if you think like that avoiding teams, were going to have to face the best at some point. Embarrassing performance negative beyond belief against one of the lowest ranked teams in the tournament.
If that's a reply to me I agree. Eventually we have to play a big team and this manager hasn't got the bottle to attack them when we do.
Southgate seemed like a breath of fresh air when he first took over. Now he's fallen into the trap of playing with fear.
No was just a reply to the op implying it was a decent result and we should try getting 2nd place to avoid the better teams. But having read your posts I agree with your thoughts on it.
but you don't want to hit top form too early, if we were to play either france germany or portugal next week it'll probably be embarrassing, even on home soil, on current form i'd like to think we'd beat the other options even at a neutral venue
