Your NHS details are soon to be shared with 3rd parties unless you opt out. Gone under the radar but I discovered this today. Make of this what you will but if you do wish to opt out it needs to be done quite soon. Just google NHS opt out or something like and you'll find more information.
I offer no advice or comment on this just the observation that I knew nothing at all about it until my daughter mentioned it
    Cheers

Most people should be fine with that. They've been posting in here for months that private companies having access to your medical status is fine

We've already opted out. Not keen on BoJo's Public School buddies and Tory donors getting my medical info to swell their profits and hasten the end of the NHS thank you very much.

This is such an important issue which has received zero coverage in the media. Admin, can this be made a sticky?

I only heard about on a youtube video by a South Yorkshire lad called Phil (he's a teacher and talks a lot of sense), the channel is called "A Different Bias". worth a watch.

The article above includes details of how to opt out. It seems that there are 2 types of opt out, so if you want to stop NHS Digital from downloading your details in the first place (as opposed to letting them download, but preventing them from using the data), make sure you go for the "Type 1" opt out. There's a link to the opt out website within the article.

Thank you. I knew nothing about this. I'd like to second @Brush proposal that this be made a sticky.

Usually, a proposal and a second is given consideration, if not validated.

I agree with @Brush and @Jay. Let's keep this on the front page for at least the next few weeks.

I disagree with it being made a sticky. A sticky is a great way to ensure that I'll never see a thread, I'm sure that goes for a lot of people on here too.

I've opted out though, so thanks for the info.

You can opt out here: https://your-data-matters.service.nhs.uk/

Why is that? I'm not challenging you, I'm genuinely interested to know. My experience of the BBS is that I always bump into the Sticky posts first. And I'm always intrigued to know why, with so many great guests, that Live from Redfearn's Bar chooses to advertise 'Now including Conor Chaplin' who is the lowest rent guest they had in the whole series (it's like putting Benny from Crossroads atop your poster when you've got Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Audrey Hepburn, Katharine Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Robert De Niro, Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant). I guess I've never been intrigued enough to ask why, but then again I've met Loko which I do believe excuses me.

Oh this is an easy one. Complete and utter bone idleness.

We were updating that thread every time we had a new guest, so the title changed every Tuesday/Thursday whenever the YouTube link had formatted for the most recent interview. Chaplin was our last guest :(

I'm not really sure. I guess my eyes tend to just move to the threads below the line as I know the top ones are not new?

I often browse from Tapatalk too, where the sticky threads look significantly different so couldn't be mistaken for a non-sticky thread

I'd worked that one out otherwise it would have been Nardiello!

I'm confused. It's not like your data will be used for marketing purposes, it's for medical research purposes. Why would you not want to help out with that?

it's more the fact that it can be identifiable . I've just opted out for now until it becomes clearer how it's going to be used and how privacy is going to be protected.

It clearly states medical research and service planning though.

Got no problem with my data being use anonymously for medical research and planning by the NHS.

If the data is shared with 3rd parties (medical insurance companies and medical service providers like Bupa etc) they will use it to gain a competitive advantage - over the NHS. This will help them to lure wealthy people away into private health care. The only logical end to that is a 2 tier health service with the poorer people left with an even more impoverished NHS.

Definitely no way to reward the fantastic efforts of doctors and nurses through the pandemic. The 1% pay rise is just another way the government is driving staff away from the NHS to private health companies like Bupa.
