21 for 6 v lancs. Very poor batting. The team is mainly unknown to me. Anyone know y root, baitstow and rashid are not playing.
I'd guess because we play New Zealand in the first test on the 2nd. Well that's at least accounting for Root. Not seem the squad though.
Root wasn't available for this game and Rashid doesn't play County Championship. We've got inexperienced players covering the middle order (Ballance is injured). Guys like Fraine and Brook can't buy a run at the minute.
Just seen score wow! Been for a walk around Langsett this morning, and thought to myself it's a morning for bowling. Very muggy, nice cloud cover and plenty of low cloud cover. The kind of morning that is a bowlers dream. Just keep bowling outside of off stump let the ball talk, 4 slips and a gully and the batsman who are shot Happy will do the rest.
Too many batsman want to feel bat on ball. Atherton was on about this in the last home series. He said players shouldn't be playing at anything 4-6 stump widths wide of them unless they're hammering it to the boundary. He couldn't see the logic of playing defensive strokes on 4th and 5th stump lines.
Root I understand as he's playing for England next week. Balance is injured and that's a loss as he has had a good season. Rashid has no interest in getting back in the test side. No reason why Malan and Bairstow shouldn't be playing. Both are out of quarantine and had a good rest since the IPL finished early.
