They aren’t competing for the same spots. Bamford is challenging Calvert-Lewin & Watkins to be back up for Kane & Greenwood would be a wide forward like Rashford, Sterling & Sancho
Trippier’s had a decent season but he shouldn’t just get in because they won the league. It’s not as if he’s been one of their stand out players. He’s just not as good as TAA or Walker & I don’t think it’s even close. He’s unlucky but I wouldn’t take him unless I was playing a back 3 & intended to play Walker in a back 3.
Pickford Henderson Johnstone TAA Walker James Shaw Chilwell Stones Maguire Tomori Coady Henderson Rice Mount Bellingham Saka Foden Ward - Prowse Sterling Sancho Grealish Greenwood Rashford Kane Calvert-Lewin
I've watched a few Atletico games this season and I think he has been pretty solid. TAA has had a very disappointing mediocre season in my opinion.
Assuming none of these are injured... I've taken out the ones who i know are.. My 26 man squad would be... Henderson Pickford Johnstone James Alexander Arnold Walker Trippier Stones Coady Mings Chilwell Shaw Phillips Rice Bellingham Mount Grealish Saka Foden Sterling Sancho Kane Rashford Greenwood Ings Calvert Lewin
He’s solid enough. I just don’t think he’s in the same class as TAA or Walker. He’s the one I like most due to his Barnsley connection but I can’t make a case for him been picked ahead of the other two. As for Trent I think he’s outperformed any of the other right backs. He seems to get more blame for Liverpool having to field kids at centre back & dodgy few games after Christmas but along with Fabinho, Salah & Robertson he’s been one of Liverpool’s best players & in the last month he’s really stepped it up. Probably the best English player in the league which is impressive given how well Foden’s playing. As well as that Walker’s spent half the season on the bench behind Cancelo & James spent half of it behind Azpilicueta & even Hudson-Odoi on occasions too. If anyone should miss out it’s probably James but I’d probably end up picking him as he can play as a right sided centre back too.
Have you seen Trent in Liverpool’s last six or seven games? The rest aren’t fit to lace his boots. And earlier in the season he was vilified when in reality he was scared of doing what he does as he had no faith in the centre backs behind him - it wasn’t the same two people any two games in a row. I do get the feeling that Southgate doesn’t like him though so wouldn’t be surprised if he’s left out.
just not really fussed about the national team.. Always seems they play outta their skin for club, not never really replicate it when it comes to England..
They’re not exactly ball playing centre halves though, which is what Southgate is looking for. Tarkowski had a chance with England before but didn’t look comfortable, and Mee is even more limited on the ball. I would’ve thought Tomori would’ve got a chance. Looked capable last season and has apparently had a good season in Milan. Our options after Stones and Maguire are a level below in quality either way.
