CAULEY WOODROW POST-SWANSEA CITY Interviews Following the conclusion of our incredible season at Swansea City on Saturday evening, Cauley Woodrow reflected on a remarkable 10 months since our great escape at Brentford. Continue reading on the official site...
Out of all our players who are likely to attract attention, he's the one I want to retain above all others.
Sounds really positive and as though he still wants to wear that famous Red shirt next term. Well done Cauley and all of our players for your efforts. Made us all proud to support the Reds.
What an absolutely superb goal that was, and a fantastic assist from Williams. That’s kind of got lost in the disappointment of defeat.
Really positive. It sounds like he's been battle hardened than battle weakened. Some players want out after dramatic seasons. Not Woodrow. I think our sports psychology team will earn their money this summer. It's got to be a massive strain going from extreme of fighting relegation to fighting for promotion in 10 months.
Best goal scoring striker we’ve had in my time watching us (I’ve had a season ticket just over 15 years now). I hope he stays and can keep his goal scoring up. Be nice if we can get some better quality service into the box to him next season.
Cauley loves playin football, signed a new contract when cardiff were sniffing, top bloke, great player, if we played to his strengths he'd get close to 20 a season.
I can't understand why it didn't work for him playing alongside Dike and Morris. They were equally good foils for him.
I think Woodrow likes to be on the left so it opens up to shoot with his right. I think Morris would like to play on the left, so it opens up to shoot with his right. I think Dike could play anywhere along the front but looks for the ball played in behind, so would prefer a team with a high line and a midfield that looks for passes for his runs. Though all 3 have been asked to receive the ball from hoofs, even though they are pretty well built, I don't think thats what they enjoy doing, but obviously gave it a go. Given time, I reckon they'd form a decent understanding, if we could play to their strengths more.
I think because were defending from the front our strikers find themselves in positions they wouldn't naturally be in, i also think he hasnt scored as many worldies as he normally gets and that could be down to chasing balls constantly cos he aint just having to concentrate on scoring anymore theres other things he needs to be doing.hard to explain.
1 goal short of a half century for the reds. Been a long time since any Barnsley striker scored that figure.
Am hoping louis that he stays here all his career, make him captain which means theyve an excuse to pay him more but off field he can talk to players, teach them, advise them, he can be so much more than just a captain if you catch my drift, he can persuade do best for club and player but club first, he could do his badges here, coach here who knows, we need a player who could do all that i think.weve had rimmo and winnie why not have a woodrow.
