I think Pinnock started more games when Macdonald left and Jackson got injured. He scored 2 in 2 around the time he broke into the side, and remained there for the rest of the season iirc.
Yes Angus left and jackson was injured he got motm v reading scored away at Sunderland and then broke his toe in training. We brought matt Mills in hecky went to leeds and pinnock didn't feature much for the rest of season. Hindsight is a great thing but imo if pinnock had been given a chance at the start of that season we would have had a greater chance to stay up.
I think if Moncur, Mcgeehan (loaned out), Mowatt (loaned out) or Mallan had been given a chance regularly alongside Gardner or Williams (not both) we'd have stayed up.
Had the McBurnie transfer gone through in the summer as opposed to January, we would have stayed up at a canter.
I agree but with the players we had at our disposal we should have aswell. We loaned the most experienced championship player we had out to Oxford and had one of the best center half ive seen at the club 4th choice behind lindsay, Angus and Jackson. We also had harvey barnes in that time.
Signed for them already https://www.htafc.com/news/2021/may/signing-matty-pearson-agrees-to-join-town/ Good luck Matty. He will do well there.
Steady player for this level now I think its a decent signing for huddersfield. Wouldnt saw him for helik or anderson though
I suspect there will be a fair bit of business like this, clubs looking for free transfers from clubs who either can't afford the extra wages, or are in a position where they need to lose the wages to try and be more sustainable. I'll be interested to see who Luton bring in, because their out of contract list has some key players in it. With Collins and Pearson moving already, they have their work cut out. I'll be interested to see if any clubs at Championship level have the transfer funds to unsettle any of our players, or if we've a good chance of retaining those under contract still.
Pinnock was too lightweight when he first arrived. Was poor vs Morecambe when we played them in the League Cup. Didn't get much of a look in after that from memory.
He got one game he didn't have a great game in that game but jesus it was one game. Dike looked totally off it in his 1st game. Pinnock always had the ability he never looks strong or big even now he is quite gangly but his strength is deciving and wins everything in the air and reads the game very well he can also pass the ball and is good with it at his feet. McDonald had a poor season before leaving to Hull and was never captain material and jackson never convinced me at championship level.
