Just received my "unsuccessful in the ballot" email. I'm surprised just how disappointed I feel. I'm not at all angry and wish everyone well who is going - please be loud for me too. Nevertheless I think the club has missed an opportunity in the email. It's a simple three liner: Maybe my judgement is influenced by my disappointment but some expression of regret and sadness that not everyone can be there would've been nice. Perhaps something like: "We are sorry to inform you that your recent ballot application for the above fixture has not been successful. We of course want all our fans back with us and are sorry it's not yet possible. It would've been fantastic to re-open with Oakwell rocking and full to capacity. Hopefully that will be the case at the start of next season. Whilst I'm sure you'll be disappointed, we have arranged for a Matchday Magazine (or something else small) to be sent to you with our compliments as a small token of our appreciation of your support. Whilst it won't make up for not being there, we want you to in some way feel a part of it and hope that it might increase your enjoyment a little. In the meantime, thank you for applying for tickets and apologies again." Something like this might have slightly eased the disappointment and would certainly have made me think they understand how I (and many others are feeling). Missed opportunity Dane.......
As someone who sells a significant volume of tickets on all the Major ticket sites you have the opportunity to write the message that goes out to your customers. This isn’t a ticketmaster issue. They might have used a TM template but you can do your own.
I suspect with the amount of effort the ballot has taken in terms of admin, the final touch has been completely forgotten and probably not even requested comms to have a look at it. It's got the feel of standard admin tone to it. Shame.
Fully agree in everything you have said. Email from the Membership team to people who like everyone else have struggled through the last 17 months and have been left disappointed yet again and recieve a not even sorry you were unsuccessful is thoughtless.
I think it says "We are sorry to inform you that your recent ballot application for the above fixture has not been successful." in the first sentence?
Nope, We are emailing to notify you that your recent ballot application for the above fixture was unsuccessful.
Sorry I was reading the bit below that Wolvestyke had written and thought it was what was in the email. At least it has 30 more words than the last time the club upset everyone with a concise communication.
It's insensitive. It wouldn't have been too difficult to make it sound like it was written with a degree of empathy.
I didn’t even get a rejection email , my son got it. Edit I’ve just looked at my emails and I’ve got one
Fixture: Barnsley v Swansea City Dear Helen We are emailing to notify you that your recent ballot application for the above fixture was unsuccessful. There is not a waiting list facility. In the event any supporter wished to return their tickets the ballot would be re-run to fill the returned seats and the successful supporters would be notified. At least it is personally addressed. Tbh I just focused on the unsuccessful bit!
I just hope the supporters there are on top voice cheering the lads on from the first to the last minute. I would have been.
There has been plenty of things that fans have had cause to complain/moan about over the many years of the clubs existence. This has got to be one of the most insignificant ones ive heard so far
