I also expect them to be in the mix for promotion next season... if they don't get a horrific points deduction/go into administration/suffer a transfer embargo/recruit terribly/play in S6 and still have Chansiri pulling the strings. It's a certainty.
One the other night said they were on the verge of relegation because they had no fans in their squad! Norwich must have a squad full of die hard canaries then.
Look at that division though. Charlton, Ipswich, Sunderland, Bolton now, Rotherham (who know the league), Portsmouth. That's some competition, not to mention if Wycombe keep hold of their manager, and if Burton or another surprise team does well.
Haven’t they got about 3 players under contract for next season? I’d say their transfer activity will determine whether they stay up next season, never mind get promoted.
If they finally abide by financial rules, and if they actually have players they can afford to pay.... it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they were challenging to get out of League 1. By being near the relegation zone.
I predict they'll sign a bunch of ageing journeymen, pay them over the odds to the point where they don't really give a **** about results, finish somewhere from 4th - 8th and bottle the playoffs if they make them.
Shows how we do do very well to get promoted back out of that division. Many clubs have left the division and never come back, some are now non league!
It’s a tough old league to get out of. I was reading a post the other day on owls talk by a fan claiming that now they would see what Chansiri was made of as you are allowed to spend whatever you like in league one, as long as the money is in the form of a donation and not a loan. Will they ever learn!?
I think Wednesday are more massive than the other 23 clubs in the division, combined. When they go to these little villages in League One, like Ipswich or Portsmouth, the local authorities there will need to widen the roads to accommodate the four billion travelling Owls.
Took United 6 seasons to get out of that division and many managers who spent big budgets and failed. Some decent size clubs down there now who will also fancy promotion ipswich, pompey, Sunderland, Bolton, charlton. Rotherham will want to be up there as will donny and Gareth ainsworth on quest said if he is able to keep his team together he is confident of coming straight back. Not as easy as were massive were going up.
