Owls, Blades, Rotherham, Doncaster, all done. Wonder what Radio Sheffield will find to talk about now.. presumably perhaps mentioning the Reds continuing wonderful end to the season very occasionally and grudgingly!
Listened to Praise and Grumble on Saturday - not something I do often but was interested to hear fans reactions. Do they have the same callers on all the time ? Seems like an exclusive club
Radio deedar? Surely not. They'll be navel gazing and wringing their hands about the Blunts and Wendies for months yet.
Never quite understand why people get so wound up about Radio Sheffield. Clue's in the title for me. Never listen to it.
Perhaps not all people are wound up as such but take them to task over their claim that they represent South Yorkshire and North East Derbys. Sheffield is its name and HQ only. Even taking into account the larger size and population of Sheffield and the size of its football club’s fanbases in comparison to their neighbours, they still get a disproportionate coverage. I rarely listen to it mainly because callers who seem to have good sensible points to make get less airtime than the usual droners and nothing new to say callers such as Brian the Miller, Brian the Blade and Mark the Pittsmoor Owl.
I disagree. I think Radio Sheffield will do a fantastic job of giving us lots of coverage during our promotion push and they are by far our best media outlet we can rely on outside the club. Barnsley Chronicle, Dearne FM, Yorkshire Post etc do not come anywhere close.
I don't mind a listen but also don't get wound up. It is what it is. It can be boring as furk but also entertaining at times. Was better a couple or so years back with the other presenters. I haven't rung for years now since they blocked my number after an argument with Giddings about the Winnall transfer......... their loss ;-)
No Steel City derby w4nkfest for them to wet themselves over for at least another season. The mystic octopus will be calamari long before it can be let out of its tank again.
Probably on my own on this one. But believe we get a fair share of airtime. Been a lot of Barnsley fans on this season. You'll not get on. if you don't try. I've rung in twice over the years and been on twice. Been some good contributors. But as in all big six clubs. a couple of embarrassments crop up now and again.
Don't listen to praise or grumble any more. Surprised the format still exists with so many other methods of putting forward your opinion on the game/your club. But I find their pre match stuff and commentary invaluable. Can't remember a time in the last few years when I haven't been at a game that I've been unable to get Radio Sheffield commentary.
In terms of match day coverage, we certainly get a high level of coverage. We're usually on either FM or AM if we're away from home anywhere outside of Lancashire. In terms of callers, there's been an increase in reds fans this season, but they can only put on whoever calls in. I honestly don't get half the vitriol. I do believe it's people who don't actually listen to it who are the biggest critics.
Not always, also, as I said earlier, when I was a regular listener they seemed to give more airtime to someone who has little or nothing different to say (more often than not a regular caller) or not making a clear point, than someone who had more valid and interesting points to make/ discuss. I have not vitriol or anything else towards the show, I just got fed up of listening to the same old same old.
Each to their own, I enjoy it. I don't agree that we get significantly less coverage than the Sheffield clubs though, because we don't.
They've still got Chesterfield in the National League Play-Off race (just) to concentrate on plus 2 month's worth of special features on next season's Championship and League1 table-toppers!
