It still makes interesting viewing.... https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/t...-fans-of-other-clubs-hate-us/page/3/#comments Can anyone help? For sake of neutrality, I asked a couple of friends who support clubs elsewhere. Both came up with answers the Deedars can't seem to grasp. "The arrogance. They think the football world owes them something." "Their fans don't seem to understand any other club. They see themselves and multiply that by 10. Utterly wrapped up in their own B0llox"
Just seen the OP of the link Fired posted up above " I really don't get the hatred. I always had the impression we were the "second team" for a lot of fans from other clubs. Seems not. " Just splurted my beer over my keyboard when I read that
oh and these are good as well "If you asked 100 people who have some good football knowledge to name 20 teams they'd like to see in the prem 70+ would say us! " and a reply "I don’t know if 70% actually would actually want us in the Prem but definitely a lot of the fans of other clubs I know do like to come to Hillsborough. It’s a good day out for a travelling fan apparently. " In all fairness thought there are at least a couple of realistic fans on the thread and I do have some genuine sympathy for those
Usually people dislike a local club just because they are based near to us, but Wednesday are different. The three main reasons for me are..... 1) They cheat. FFP has shown them up for what they are. Gambling on promotion and then selling their tip of a ground far above what it's worth to try and get around it. 2) Ticket prices. Nobody should pay what they charge and especially to sit in arguably the most unsafe away end in the country. If another Hillsborough disaster happened in that stand it wouldn't be a shock and that's sad to say. 3) Thinking they are massive. They are nothing like one of the biggest clubs in the country. They have lived off past glories for decades and their history this century is similar to ours.
I was nearly with you there but then I read the last bit “their history this century is similar to our,” Even allowing for the breathtaking Premiership tactic of denying over 100 years of football history, I still think that is pushing it just a tad.
The play off final weekend was the clincher for me. I live in Sheffield, and had to listen continually how Wednesday could sell Wembley out 5 times over, how they had some of Hull's tickets, how Wembley had never heard a noise like it etc etc. Of course Wembley with an allocation of 40k for any other club couldn't be as loud as them........ Oh, and how Barnsley had all their "day trippers out in force". Yet my Facebook was rammed with people I knew, but didn't know as Wednesday fans, all posting pictures at Wembley..... I've even had it this weekend. Talking about 4500 fans in the Play off semi final, saying it might generate an atmosphere ..... oh no, not at Hillsborough, it would be lost ....... They don't even know when they are doing it. I'm sure when they "fill Accrington","fill Cheltenham" etc, they will take far more than anyone who ever played there.
