First time I've seen any quotes from somebody at Orlando. Seems that they're expecting a fee from us for him to play another month. What I don't understand why there is such a gap between what the two clubs say about the terms of the loan.
It doesn’t sound like the most watertight agreement. I can’t imagine DK would be too happy if Orlando deprived him of a place in the playoffs.
Agreed, plus wouldn't Orlando want him to play and potentially raise his profile in the playoffs? Makes sense to me, imagine he has a great game or 2....or 3....
I’ll go with the club on this one tbh . They are meticulous in the preparation and if there’s a varied chance of outcome they say they prepare for all eventualities ,so can’t see a loan move even with the slightest chance at the time of the playoffs .not being covered by the board . I think after the MacDonald fiasco all the Is and Ts will have been addressed and they have stated he will play .
My money is on Dane , I do not think he would have said what he did on radio Sheffield without being confident that we have got him until the end of the play offs
From Dike's perspective (with his career ambitions in mind) - why would you come to England in the middle of winter to put yourself in the shop window, then leave when that team reaches a series of games that will give you the exposure to potentially improve your stock further..... Also seems like Orlando are seeing this as a revenue opportunity. I agree with Dane, its a mutually beneficial agreement and for those reasons I expect him to be here for the playoffs.
Simple solution. We have a few agreed, let's pay it and he never has to go back to Orlando and can remain a Barnsley player. Simples!
It does feel like a bit of face saving PR from Orlando, but wouldn’t rule out us having paid a fee to keep him a bit longer. Murphy would look terrible if he was to go back after his recent interviews, so would expect him to be staying. But the lack of a straight answer or any consistency between the clubs is a bit frustrating
So if Daryl has the chance of playing at Wembley and he's told to come home to Orlando what's he going to do? Say "ok" and bugger off back to the States... I don't think so
