To everyone! What's the drink of choice today? Our friends from The Emerald Isle have Guinness, but all the English stuff is rank. Recommend me a Tipple for tonight please!
Happy St George's Day.....I agree with you....it ll be either John Smith's or..... Guinness..... probably both
Henry Westons is as far from rank as you can get & better than Guinness, beautiful proper chilled drink.
It's a pretty sad story when you think about it. I'm a massive believer that people enjoy what they enjoy when it comes to beer. No snobbery or mocking. But Tennent's as the beer of Scotland and Carling as the beer of England can't continue forever can it?
Them foreign beers, coming over here and taking over our fridges. Carling is grim. It might be a little bit of a hipster IPA for me today.
There's loads and loads of great British beers. Get some Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild down you, 6% and full of flavour, only takes 4 pints to forget what you're celebrating....
Nothing on that list worth drinking. The British people don't deserve the plethora of wonderful cask ales that the hundreds of independent brewers of this country produce.
I’m a lager drinker. I found out years ago that 80/- just gave me hang overs in the morning. Tennent’s is most widely available here along with McEwan’s heavy for the beer drinkers. Of course other lagers and beers are available but those two most widely drunk. When I’m in Tarn Carling is I suppose is what I drink most. I must admit I’ve never been attracted to those cask ales. But each to their own.
In your opinion it isn't. And my opinion too, but everything has a target market. Why don't the British people deserve our cask ales? We drink lots of that as well you know it's just that cask ale isn't sold in as many places as lager.
This weirdness is probably why my ‘normal’ political views are so far away from the norm too. I know loads of beer drinkers (friends family and colleagues), and nowadays they’re either ‘real ale’ or craft beer drinkers. With just one Carling drinker in the family and one Fosters drinker too. Im happy with a decent lager in the sunshine, but I’d really rather drink water than Carling. On Tennants though; me and a mate did an evening in the micro brewery on the Tennants site in Glasgow and it was lovely (can’t remember what we drank though).
That would be Drygate - approximately 10 minutes walk from my flat - Link Thirty years back in Scotland and I still can't - or won't - drink Tennents. I still miss the hand pulled goodness of Timothy Taylors, Black Sheep and the like...
