He'd be placing his pay off in jeopardy by arguably being in breach of his own contract by not doing as he's obliged to. So highly unlikely to be true.
The original account that said that is a joke parody Twitter account and because journos are poor compared to how they used to be many ran the story without checking the source first. This is what happened.
