Just tuned in. Connor Benn fighting. Not been following the build up to the fight. Is he expected to win?
If this fight was made a year ago I would’ve backed Vargas but Ben’s improved loads & put in a career best performance last time out. My guess is Benn on points or potentially a late stoppage but Vargas will make it entertaining. He’s had 2 months notice & will have a go
I'm looking forward to the women's fight more than the main event, for a couple of reasons as well...
Vargas lost on points to Amir Khan less than three years ago, so it is a good step up in class for Benn.
He's coming on leaps and bounds is Benn. His punch accuracy is starting to match his speed and the power is now clear to see. Great example of how time in the gym can improve your ability and ring IQ. Seriously impressive destruction, albeit against someone winding down their career, but that was a step up and incredibly one-sided.
Frightening speed and power hitting. Loved how he completely dismantled him after landing his first clean jab. Just like his old man once he smelled blood or saw a sign of pain.
Agree but not surprised that it went that way as quickly as it did. Needs a proper test next time out.
He did well, he’s getting better all the time & he’s a great talker. Unfortunately he’s in one of the toughest divisions in the sport & is a long way off the level of the champions never mind the contenders. If he can fight Khan next than that’s perfect. Khan’s been shot to pieces for years & he’ll get a KO win on box office, earn a fortune & make himself a household name.
I thought it was slightly disrespectful towards Amir Khan using his name like that. Notice how they didn't mention Brook? He's just as shot and cashed out against Crawford in a complete non-performance but less said about that than Khan. I'm excited to where Benn can get to but he can't walk through Khan like he just did to Vargas. And throwing names around like Broner and Porter when he hasn't won a British title? I get it's a Sky Sports love-in and they're just creating hype but folk need to calm down. Three fights in the next 12 months impressing like that against better opponents and you've got a PPV star.
