I watched the match yesterday and was bitterly disappointed that we lost and the way we played. Felt we should have not had a goal disallowed and should have had a penalty..but we didn't !. We made uncharacteristic mistakes and got punished. Quite a few of our better players just never seemed to get going yesterday against our local rivals . But it's the international break and time to build up to the final ten games . I am sure lots of Barnsley supporters were jittery yesterday as we never usually do well against Sheff Wed . But looking at the table I know which of yesterday's teams league positions I would be in right now. So come on Reds fans onwards and hopefully upwards from now til the end of this season.COYREDS!
Well yes it could be 11 games if we get to the playoff final. No Barnsley fan likes to lose at Oakwell especially to other local sides but if we have a successful end to the season it won't matter. If you think back to where we were a year ago it's been a fantastic season so far that nobody expected. Truth is we have become used to winning so yesterday was a bit of a reality check. Now we need to go on another run that will take us into the playoff and who knows maybe beyond.
I actually think it’s a blessing in disguise. Grounds the players, grounds the fans and allows everyone to focus on the remaining games. Top 6 still isn’t a given, so I think a bump in the road could help us. In terms of play, I thought with the ball we played slightly more to feet that I’ve seen, but not always, and the main difference was when we didn’t have the ball. As I saw one post say, a game too far, and combined with a very good set up by Wednesday, I thought defensively we looked shaky. But playing so many games in just over a month is going to be tough for a team so focussed on energy and industry. Feet up, lots of rest and resetting goals and 8 games to go.
