    Went to Wembley for the first time when Hoddle was playing for England.

    We beat Scotland 2-1 and there was a big punch up in our end, but the whole thing was pretty flat. Followed that with a 0-0 draw with Northern Ireland - Hoddles long range effort pushed round the post was probably the only highlight.

    Top player in his day.

    Yes, he was the the mainstay of the team for a few seasons. He did seem to miss a lot of games through injury, otherwise he might made it into legend status.
