I litterally have no recollection of the game but I’ve just seen this. I do know Stuart Gray was a heck of a player for us though quite a few future reds were on the various scoresheets too!
He scored one goal for us, in a 3-0 victory at Reading, whilst on a month's loan during the 1974/75 season. I would've thought that Paul Walsh would've been playing at Liverpool at that time.
I wasn't at the Spurs game and would have struggled to recall it. However, I remember Liverpool hitting Fulham for ten very clearly. Strange! I also remember Luton taking Liverpool to the cleaners in the FA Cup on the plastic pitch. Pretty sure it was the same season. Liverpool had an absolutely outstanding side.
I have every recollection. ....... I was Spurs mascot. Lawrie (who still looks after mascots at Oakwell) son was the Barnsley mascot ....... I'd a liking for Tottenham at that age so my dad sorted it. Great night. Spurs and BFC were outstanding.
Remember it as it was the first chance I had to see my childhood footballing hero Glenn Hoddle in the flesh. Spent half the game just watching him coast his way through it, seemingly on a different planet to everyone else, even though it was probably just a run of the mill game for him. Criminal that England didn’t build a team around him, and such a pity he turned into a bit of a nob later on..
Yes remember the game at oakwell i was in ponty. Didnt go to away game i was a bit young. We played well in home leg if i remember
Went to both legs. We played really well in the first one, in fact I think we went 2-1 up, but they just had too much quality. 2nd leg we lost 5-3 at WHL. We kept plugging away but they were just too good. Clemence made a right hash, allowing Chandler to score if I remember correctly.
