Advantages to electronic versus standard doors and rough price I should expect to pay please from anyone who knows owt about it?
Just had a garage door fitted £475, £800 for anthracite. We got the 475 one and l painted it anthracite with a tin of paint for £35. #gordsmoneysavingtips.
I had an electric one fitted. The reason being the price different wasn't too significant from roller to electric. I think the industry has positoned it that way to get peopl trading up. Anyway, just had the second repair on mine today. Looks ace, but electric = more stuff to go wrong!
I had a Hormann sectional one fitted a couple of years ago, £1500. It's the type that could have an electric motor fitted, but it's the only access to our garage so couldn't get in if the motor failed. There are ways round this but they didn't appeal to us. So I'd say only go for electric if you have another door into the garage.
Had mine done 3 yrs ago and have had no issues. To have 2 electric roller doors cost me £850 from a company In Lincoln. Very impressed and take about 15-20 seconds to open.
Not at the minute but may do once kids leave.Door needs replacing in any case, it's 25 years old and the mechanism is broken. Just looked at a neighbour 's and you get a pole thing so you can open it manually if it breaks.
Mine are like that Helen, well worth it if you want them fitted, especially if you want a different colour.
Blokes just been round and quoted me and also fixed the old door for free cos ut was bugging him bless him.
IDS (Industrial door systems) based in Carlton. They did mine a couple of years ago for £750 electric. There's plenty of garage door companies locally if you have a google.
Single or double sized door and (if you don't mind me asking) what was the quote? Was quoted best part of £3k about 6 years ago declined. Given the alarm my suggested costs for PVC doors raised, I wonder if I'm a soft touch
We had a Hormann sectional garage door (standard width) fitted when we extended the house and built an integral garage back in 2007. Not had a minutes bother with it. As others have mentioned, it's compatible with a motor, but didn't see any real benefit of an electric one tbh. Cost about £750 Inc fitting back then from Jack Doors. I think they're Barugh Green based now, they used to be on Shaw Lane.
Yes ours has a pole to attach to open a door close manually. Didn't have mine installed as it was already fitted when I bought the house, also have internal door.Don't put the car but still like the roller. I can park close to it and still access the garage. Also when I'm cleaning the cars I can run the wire and pipe for the jet wash under the door and lower it right down so water doesn't go in. We also have key fobs for it which are really handy.
