Why are we playing Derby on Wednesday, rather than Tuesday? Recovery day on Thursday, then a long bus journey down to Bournemouth for Saturday's match. Bournemouth, meanwhile, have no midweek game. It seems inevitable that they will be much fresher than us for what is a massive match. This is a huge advantage for them. I fear that our high pressing game could start to take its toll.

Dunno but we seem to be playing all our midweek games on Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays. It just doesn't feel right....

As this is a rearranged fixture, I thought we would be able to play the match on any date which is convenient for both us and Derby.

Don’t think we’ve lost a 7pm kick off in our entire history

especially not when I’m wearing my lucky pants

The fact that we have done better on Wednesdays is surely just a coincidence. It's the very long journey to the south coast, coupled with the fact that Bournemouth have no midweek game, which make things a lot tougher for a team, like ours, which is reliant on high energy for success, to play twice in such a short time.

It is mate but I’ve got it in my head Home teams were selected Tuesday’s or Wednesday’s 1st half of the season then reversed 2nd half.

Wednesday is the best day as it gives us equal time before our next fixture & after our last , if we had played this tuesday it would have given us one day less to prepare & recover for Derby , its as long as it is broad to be fair, however I think equal time between matches is better .

    Thanks
As far as I can gather it’s because originally it was a scheduled Saturday game.

Are you not overlooking the fact that Derby have no advantage over us re recovery, whichever day we play. Like us, they played last Saturday. Bournemouth, on the other hand, will have had 4 more days than us to prepare for their match with us, instead of only 3, which would have been the case if we were playing Derby on Tuesday. I just think that a gap of only 2 full days between matches, is a fair bit different from the 3 full days afforded by a Tuesday kick off v Derby.

I’ve been asking myself that same question, since I’ve been following football. Why, indeed? When there’s a perfectly good football club, 10 miles up the road? Baffles me. o_O

I would imagine that we'll be flying down to Southampton. Makes the journey a lot less. I remember driving to Bournemouth on a Tuesday night the last time we played them away. Dreadful journey.

I am not quoting anything about any advantages either Derby or Bournemouth have over us , my only point is that wednesday falls halfway between the two games, therefore affording us the maximum balanced time between fixtures , its swings and roundabouts anyway because when we had the original match called off we gained rest time on our next opponents , we cannot have it always .
