At the time of posting he was back and forth in the crease, playing the ball in a controlled manner. Then he started reverse sweeping and generally arsing about again. Root plumb now, disastrous.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but it’s telling that we hammered them in the first test with no fans in the ground. Then, as soon as thousands of screaming banshees are allowed in, they hammer us. I just think that’s odd. Tests 2 to 4 have highlighted how good the Indians are so what went wrong in the first game? Can’t be all down to hysterical support, surely?
the pitch wasn’t a dust bowl? Actually saying that it’s a little unfair, this 4th test pitch has been ok for India. The pink ball was mental in the 3rd test. There will be the usual inquest, we’ve just got too many batters who don’t play quality spin often enough. For example Darren Stevens aged 45 still trundling in for Kent at 65mph and getting 70 wickets a season on a seaming green top...why would Kent ever play a spinner!
Looked out from home on first view so surprised the fielder wasn't sure. Decent little partnership that was despite the lack of boundaries.
At least, on this show, Bess and Bairstow should get plenty of time playing for Yorkshire this summer
If losing two quick wickets three times in the first innings wasn't bad enough, we have done it four times second time around. Bess with a shot of a player looking for 14 off the last over of a T20 to win the match.
Must be soul destroying being out there, knowing there is not a chance in hell you can get a result from this.
While yes county cricket is to blame somewhat, some of the application and determination from these players has been sadly lacking. I bet even if we prepare green tops when the Indians come over here this summer they will put up a decent fight of it.
