Totally agree. We're making a mockery of our beautiful game

I was so frustrated watching the Premier League games yesterday, because of VAR.
Player with his arm tight against his side, has the ball kicked at him from about 1 metre away, hitting said arm, and the goal scored by someone else is disallowed.
Another incident where the player's arm was out from his body and hit the arm, and no penalty given.
Goal disallowed because someone's bicep was too large; how can we accurately decide when the ball was kicked for these decisions to be based on centimetres?
I was hoping VAR would make things fairer, but with the way it is being applied, I would rather leave the outcome to the split-second decision of the referee (with after match sanctions applied to said referee, if they screw-up regularly).

Nothing wrong with Var it’s the pollocks that’s judging that’s the problem .
Any offside that needs more than one look is void .
I’m sure some of these pollocks that make the decisions are laughing at the reaction there decisions are causing . I’m sure some of them are taking the piss on purpose .
A couple of tweeks snd weed out the incompetents and it’ll work imo.

Said it since it was first introduced, if we're in league where VAR is used, I won't watch us anymore. VAR Football is so inferior to Football. I find nothing enjoyable in it and I'll just find something else to do. It's an awful product with nothing to recommend it.

I was listening to Talk Sport earlier today and they were talking about some of the changes to the beautiful game that have been recommended by Arsene Wenger, including doing away with throw ins and the ball being kicked in instead, and also clear daylight for offsides. Apparently the thinking behind this is to speed up the game and Wengers proposals are being considered by the powers that be. I get the clear daylight for offside, but the kick in as a replacement for throw ins, I am not so sure.

If we're promoted, you won't watch us, because of VAR?

Just listening to Dermot Gallagher on Talksport and he thinks it's got its positives and many decisions have been correctly made after VAR referral. Well for me if that's the case why aren't ALL decisions correct? ........

My take on it is that it isn't VAR, it's the rules of the game.

They're changing the handball rule again today ironically after the Fulham debacle yesterday.

Also looking at reverting the off side rule to 'clear daylight'. The decision yesterday when a player is 35 yards out and his elbow is 'offside' is absolutely criminal. Who can score a 35yarder with their elbow?

If we can't get on with using technology and it was correct everytime then fine. But the reason it isn't is (a) ***** rules (b) human interpretation (c) over Reliance on it.

While I'm on a rant get rid of linesmen.
Just use goal line technology but use it between the touchline cornerflags for ball in/out. Cos really atm that's all the linos are there for now.

The problem with the daylight things that instead of spending 5 minutes finding one pixel of the attackers leading edge that's in front of the defender they will spend 5 minutes finding one pixel of space between the attackers trailing edge and the defender.

I get where he's coming from. West Ham 1997 at home. Redders scores. We all went wild............. a moment well all cherish for ever ......

2021 first game Man City at home. Ball falls to Woodrow. He scores. We all wait 5 mins until folk sit watching TV in tunnel a good few times then disallow our moment of glory as CWs laces were just in front of Stones ankles.

I get that. It takes a lot of enjoyment away, but not watching us is a bit much.

No. There's no appeal to the game at all. Unwatchable.

I get that I really do.

The only advantage as far as that is concerned that your full body is a bit different to an elbow.

I'm fully of the opinion that both defenders and attackers have ways and means. Football is all about entertainment and goals....... offside for an elbow but every single corner or free kick into the box results in a penalty decision........ 99% of the time they're not even looked at..........

Then managers need to stop crapping on refs for each and every questionable call.

Take your pick - refs or refs plus VAR. can’t have it both ways.

Can’t agree with that at all. The daylight thing is a terrible idea in my opinion. All it does is shift the place of the controversy and it allows attackers to be in positions that should never be onside. For example:

So are you waiting to buy your season ticket for next year and will only get one if we don’t get promoted?

Do you want us to get promoted?

Not trying to point score at all, just confused about how you are thinking about this season and the remaining games.

If we want to stop using VAR we all have to stop analysing and criticising referees' decisions. It's that simple.
