What about John Macdonald's effort against Nigel Batch of Grimsby, from outside the fish shop on Park Road near the Jet Garage?

Incredible that you would find this quality from a team fighting relegation at the bottom of the fourth tier.

I actually had the (dis)pleasure of seeing him do exactly the same 18 months ago!

He was on loan at Weymouth and he wellied one in from about that distance again Havant and Waterlooville in a conference south game. keeper didnt see it!

Saw it on SSN, initially thought keeper shouldn't get beat from that distance and then saw it in slow mo and thought "aye, he should". More credit should be given to the goalscorers in general, footballs turned into a load of Alan Hansen's.

My favourite is Malcom Shotton's, I forget who against, when the east stand sounded like it would be blown down. Wind assisted a tad.

Although I just like Malcom Shotton.

Not seen it yet, but sounds like a few of mine. I’d been watching Harry Haan in the 78 World Cup..:)

I know but that was just top quality from a team who might be non-league next season

If you get chance mate, watch it on tv on Quest catch up. The clip on here, doesn’t do it full justice. Went in like an Exocet missile,

Does anyone remember Steve Cooper scoring a very long range lob against Sunderland in 1989 towards the end of the season? Our fans were not in a very happy mood despite the playoffs still being achievable, due to Beresford having been sold a few days before to pay for some new floodlights. We won 3-0 despite not playing particularly well, and Cooper's goal seemed to me to have been hit from somewhere near the halfway line. Though I was only 11, so it was probably nowhere near that far out. I suspect that no footage of it actually exists.

I remember him chipping the Sunderland goalkeeper from about 20/25 yards out, Easter Monday 1989. My memory of that particular game is that we played very well and Sunderland being outplayed from the first minute onwards.
Funny how one person's memory can be totally different to someone else's.
