    It was a belter. The bloke on Soccer Special said He must "45 OR 50 YARDS OUT" even though a footy half is only 45 yards, and he was about 8 to 10 yards inside it.

    Great strike mind.

    Where do you get a Footy half is only 45yds. ? Their pitch (forest green) is 110 yds. 55-10 (centre circle) and a few yds beyond that. The goal was 40+ yds. Banks v Cardiff-esque.

    Not quite Fonzie.

    A football pitch has to be between 100 and 130 yards in length, so a half must be at least 50 yards.

    Banks v Wednesday home in 1-0 win. The one v Cardiff in the 3-2 League Cup win was edge of the box or thereabouts.

    Reason I remember mate. I used to stand around the edge of the centre circle (right of the dug out ponty side of the Terrace. ( west stand) ) He was practically level with me. He Stayed back to allow defenders go up for the corner. When it got played out he hit it on the half volley. It would have finished up on Donny rd if the net wasn’t there. :)
    Would be great to see a vid of it. Just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming .:).

    Can’t rely on my memory mate - still convinced Big Trev was on Donny Rooad when he scored v Brighton.

    But Banger did score a 40 yarder past Bob Blunder in the 1-0 win I mention.

    Width must be between 50 and 100 yards, length must be between 100 and 130 yards. Therefore, the minimum distance from goal to halfway line is 50 yards. I seem to remember that Donny's Belle Vue was the biggest playing surface in the Football League at 110x72 yards according to wiki.

    The best part of it, he's not actually that far out. He's well over towards the Brewery Stand, which makes it more impressive and it's a great goal, but it's within shooting distance, it's not a super long range effort. Strange that it took on the status of being a half way line goal.

    One of the best long range goals I can remember was scored by a Watford player at Oakwell, 1977 (ish). A screamer from about 5-10 yards inside our half, kicking towards the away end. Assisted by a very strong wind, but an absolute belter.
