Irrespective of what we think of the journalist’s spin on the events, it’s patently obvious that Sibbick has had a tough time of things. Considering that he’s still a kid, he seems to have come through the ordeal pretty well. His experience of the last couple of years will have made him mentally stronger. Because VI has given him a new lease of life I’m sure Sibbick will feel indebted to him and I’m sure he’ll feel the need to reward the gaffers trust in him. He’s currently keeping Sollbauer out of the starting line up, which is pressure of a different kind, but one I’m sure he relishes.

It doesn't surprise me, look at how pinillos, cavare and wilks were treated. Has to be the best bit of business Barnsley has ever done recieving a fee for struber.

I think Woodrow and Mowatt would be gone now if he hadn't gone to New York.

Wonder if he stood at Strubers door and shouted ‘Let me in’

I don’t know why he was mean to him, when he called on the telephone.

Yeah - the way he inspired his team to bridge a seven-point gap, with nine games remaining, makes him as fúcking wánk as Lee Johnson.

    This thread is absolutely bonkers.

People may not like Struber or his man management but nobody can argue with his results.

Young hungry team working their ******** off despite the managers awful policy of playing his mates in key positions and awful tactics.

Oh and a points deduction for Wigan

Rumour is when Dougal would ring him, he couldn’t hear him so would ask him to confirm by asking which frequency

Not that old chestnut about Wigan again, we stopped up because we got 49 points & ended up 4th bottom & much of that was down to Struber , I do not care if you like or dislike the man ,we have a lot to be thankful to him for & he gets my respect .

    Awful tactics, which resulted in:

    Us 2, play-off chasing Forest 1.
    Automatic promotion-hunting Brentford 1, us 2.
Every hipster's favourite, Marcelo Bielsa, 1, us 0 (and we battered them.)

Plus, he broke the Loftus Road hoodoo - I wish most of our other managers had been so awful tactically.

What sort of style of football did you expect when we'd won one out of 17 or whatever it was? Needs must, and it was never going to be tiki-taka, when you're at the arse end of the Championship, and frankly desperate.

As for Wigan's points deduction? They cheated, had been cheating for years, and it caught up with them. They had players they couldn't afford, on salaries they couldn't afford. Hence why, when the money tap got shut off, they were very quickly in deep trouble. Even with -12, it's not a reflection of where they would be had they not been financially doped. In the next couple of seasons, when they drop into the Conference, that'll be their level.

I heard a rumour that he offered him a new contract, but wanted to pay him in a strange currency.
