We were crying out for a more physical presence up front, and whilst I thought Dike looked good in spells today, you can see he's not quite up to the speed of the championship just yet.

    However...

Carlton Morris. He's in a similar mould to the players we have already, particularly Woodrow, Chaplin and Frieser, in that he's relentless at trying to retain possession.

His first touch is good, and his hold up play is exceptional. Countless times today he got the ball out wide, and protected it long enough so that we could get Styles into play. Not only do we have a striker who can do the hard graft up front, but seemingly one that can get the best out of others too.

I don't think it's a coincidence today that Chaplin was back amongst the goals. He had two strikers around him that allowed him to be that fox in the box again. Woodrow would benefit from being in that role too.

We have good options up front again, all of a sudden.

100% agree. Looks a good replacement for Jacob Brown to me.

Yes, must say I'm impressed by the last window. I still think I would have tried to retain James if it was me, but Palmer is starting to look pretty tidy himself.

We've certainly got options now, but more importantly it looks like the players are learning VIs system. It's working and the players are buying into it

I know it’s easy to get carried away after a win like today’s (might as well enjoy it) but it seems we have two decent goalies, six centre halves for three places (Halme, Sibbick and Moon/Kitching) four midfielders for two (Mowatt, Palmer, Kane and Styles), four wingbacks (Odour/Kitching and Williams) and six forwards for three places, so more strength in depth than we have had for a long time. And five substitutes really helps us. Can’t be fun if you’re a defender, chased around for 60 minutes and then we bring on three different forwards who are fresh and do the same again.

Really liked the look of Morris today. He’s relatively quick for his size, strong, and really comfortable on the ball. I hope that him getting a start today is a sign that he’s now up to speed with our style of play, and is going to be a regular. Offers a lot more than Frieser and Adeboyejo.

Not even playing for Stoke. Think how good we could have been if he was still here?

Fool. We can’t play in the World Cup. I think you mean we’re going to win the Champions League. Anything less and I’ll be disappointed i can tell you.
