where do people think we would be right now if Gerhard had turned down the job in NY. Personally think we'd still be okay, but not as high as we are now. Six (VI) seems to have taken an already impressive high press & moved it to another level. If we ever get the attacking side of our game sorted I think we would be a play off team for definite.
He'd lost his way a bit imo, we were setting up for draws rather than going for the jugular. Mowatt is one who definitely is happier and more effective than he was under him. He didn't want Toby back either did he?
I don't like speaking about him. I don't think we should ever speak about him. He performed very well last season, but deliberately hamstrung our team to force a move out of the club. He is not worthy of anyone's sympathies. He's a duplicitous *******. Don't waste your time on him. He put himself before Barnsley FC to the point where he actively nobbled the club he was paid to manage. I don't have words for him.
5th / 6th bottom at best. I think Big Val has taken us up a notch. He did a job for us and kept us in the league but Big Val is twice the manager.
I'd thank Gerhard for the sterling efforts of keeping us up last season, we wouldn't be in this position now without that survival. Let's just enjoy the fact that we are where we are now for that and move on. FWIW, It's impossible to know where we'd be as there are so many factors involved.
Think he only managed 1 game hasn't he, a loss. Seemed bizarre that he left us but then didn't start managing straight away.
In a relegation battle. Just above the bottom 3. I get the impression. The players were pleased when Struhber took over from Stendel. And more so when VI arrived. To take over from Struhber. .
I think that we are not playing such pretty football with VI but we are a lot more effective. We have retained the brilliant team spirit and are much higher now than I think we would have been had Struber not gone. Struber going to the Red Bulls was good business. The big downside is that other clubs will be looking at us and will, sooner rather than later, tempt Ismael away. For now we need to enjoy our relative success.
Maybe it's to our advantage that his football style isn't seen as pretty? Less teams tempted to lure him away from us.
It is obvious to see that VI has got the team performing all over the park, the fitness levels have definitely increased as has the team spirit and fight. Not only can you see it in the players, but also the management team. This team has great potential and this is down to how VI has them set up and also, dare I say it, the belief.
You may have a point there. It will be interesting to see where Woodrow fits in now we have two big front men.
Near bottom three watching us pass around the back all time with players being played out of position
