We need to be careful not to go back to having a team of kids like the start of last season. Lost James, likely to lose mowatt and if sollbauer goes as well, that’s a lot of experience leaving the club.
. Bear in mind though that Anderson,Chaplin , Cauley, Collins Styles etc will have had 2 seasons in the Championship by then. A much different situation to when we came up.
Completely agree with this assessment Helen. All the players you have mentioned have developed both mentally and physically over the last 2 seasons. If we can keep the nucleus of this team going into next season I have high hopes for a top ten Championship finish, if not higher.
Agreed. We rightly mourned losing Pinnock, but he only featured really till we went back to L1. He wasn't a proven championship CB, although clearly he was. We have a lot of experience now in a young team.
That’s fair, but two seasons is still relatively inexperienced, compared to the rest of the division, and I think having a group of senior pros within the squad has benefits off the field as well as on. I hope Sollbauer is still at the club next season, even if he’s not first choice.
Don't get me wrong I'd love Sol to stay. I just think his experience has rubbed off enough onto the likes of Anderson and hopefully Helik by the end of the season that it won't be a big miss if he does depart, although it will obviously be a miss.
Good luck to Sibbick and he's been a revelation. I don't think it helped him being shuffled into midfield by Stendel. I've seen him once live against Fulham and thought he was decent. He looked lost in midfield. As for Sollbauer he was brought in as a stop gap to add experience. He's done his job. If Val doesn't fancy him so be it.
The fact Sibbick is keeping Sol out the team, speaks volumes. Only issue I have with the lad, was seeing close up on Thursday was he looked so young (made me feel old)
Interestingly he was arguably MOTM in three of the games he played in central midfield. It was as an out and out full back where he seemed to struggle.
