    A few years ago Carole was in John o Groats one morning and Lands End the next. Bearing in mind there will also be a cameraman a producer an electrician a driver etc it seems a great use of licence payers money

    Yawn. Just so you know, for an Olympic Games, it’s cheaper for us to move the whole operation on-site than it is for the lines to get everything piped back to the UK. The cost of us now covering the delayed Tokyo games from Salford is greater than the original model with all involved staff out there.

    What if other people enjoy the programmes you think are ‘crap’ but aren’t bothered about sport? Should they not be catered for?

    The best one last year was flying a special reporter to Australia to report on the bush fires exacerbated by global warming, saying that it was warranted despite them already having correspondents in the country.
