Just started watching it on iplayer yesterday Ian. Very funny. Was it only on BBC Scotland when it first aired. ? Only 60 episodes to go.
Going to give that a bash right now. Seen the odd one years back. Bloody insomnia is chronic, better off with half hour episodes, rather than a film.. Going to need subtitles, it’s in Scotch..
Watched an episode on Netflix from the most recent series and was totally unprepared for what happened. Those that have watched it will know what I'm talking about.
I Loved Rab C Nesbitt. I Didn’t struggle with it on tv. I went to see the play. (In Sheffield) Only one I could understand was, Rab ( Gregor Fisher)
Think I would be the same if all the other actors were from Sheffield Rab C was good when it first arrived but I felt it quickly got stale and became a bore
Daft thing is Ian. I didn’t struggle with the tv series. And most of the main characters in the play were played by those on tv. But I could barely understand em. As an aside. The balcony scene in Spain was pure magic. . Had several Scots work alongside me. The difference in dialect is just like ours. Some I could understand and some were from Mars. For what it was worth. Once told one lad. I was struggling with what he was saying. Response I got was ( as in as much I could take from it) “I nae change my accent for nae fecker” Brummie is awful at its extreme. Worst one I’ve had to contend with.
Rab C and Still Game west of Scotland accents miles away from the more refined East coast Dundee accent which I possess. Helen is forever commenting on how much she loves listening to me.
