Bradford City v Man City. Friendly, about 1970. Mike Summerbee came to talk to me whilst taking a corner, and he became 5 year old me's 2nd favourite player (behind Bobby Moore).

First Barnsley match was Easter 78 or 79. Versus Hereford I think.

The first for me was Sheffield Wednesday v Everton in 1966, their first encounter since the cup final the previous May. A mate of my Dad took me, we were right behind the goal and he had to shelter me under his coat because the Wednesday fans at the back were throwing pennies ( old pennies were bigger and heavier than a modern 2p piece) at the Everton goalkeeper, but a lot were falling short.

Non-interesting fact, but the Everton goalkeeper, that day, is likely to have been Gordon West from Darfield. It was in the ‘66 cup final anyway.

If you check out the club’s official Twitter feed, that game was on this day in 1998. Happy anniversary!

Oh wow! I know it was one of the matches added to the archive section on iFollow at one point (not sure if it's still on there). Thanks for posting that :)

Mine was Blackpool vs Wigan in the old 4th division when we went to the illuminations. 1986: I still have the ticket stub.

    It was 0-0.........

I was about to suggest first games folk took a girlfriend to but you beat me to it. But here goes..
I took a girl from college on a first date to watch Norwich play Leeds.
My ex wife was a 3-0 win at Blackburn.
I also took her on her 26th birthday to see Wales play Uruguay in a friendly at Wrexham....not sure how I got away with that.
My previous partner to the current light of my life went to a fair few as she was into sport and I can't really remember what the first game was.
Took Grainne to see us beat Birmingham City a few years back. 2-0 Bradshaw and Fryers. She's willing to go back plus I've dragged her to see a game at Glenavon. She's a diamond but then I have to say that as she's probably going to read this. :)

First match I took my husband to was when we played Scunthorpe in 2015 and after a really boring 1-1 draw (both goals were pens) it went to a penalty shoot out that dragged on forever. Surprisingly, it didn't do anything to increase his interest in football.

Sometime in the 60's my dad took me, I think it might have been Port Vale, I have no idea of the result. What I do remember is on the monday morning at school, drawing a picture of the game for "what I did at the weekend".

West Brom at home - 1990. Machin hadn't long been in charge, and the fact that they'd beaten us 7-0 that season made me wonder if it was a good game to go to. My logic at that age also led to me asking why we weren't top of the league after winning at Elland Road. 30 years on, my logic hasn't improved.

A late equaliser, I think from Andy Saville, got us a 2-2 draw, with a Tiler og at the other end.

I was at that game, (working at the steelworks in Scunny at the time). It was an awful game and we were lucky to win.
