    Wasted talent. Could’ve been a phenomenal player if it wasn’t for his abysmal attitude.

    Says everything you need to know when even Steve Evans bins you off after less than 6 months at Gillingham.

    This story annoys me because they've kept the same headline which makes it sound like he was lying about it when he wasn't. It was that reputable newspaper the Daily Mail who'd lied about it. I know that's not your point but there were loads of people commenting on Facebook about how he should have his contract terminated when the story is actually 'he assured them that it had been dealt with... and it had'.

    I agree, it's very misleading. However, I'd still say that he has to be one of the biggest wastes of talent I've ever seen in football. A decent attitude would have seen him playing ten years in the Championship and set for life. As it is, he's a lower league journeyman who'll soon have to look for a real job. Not sure I fancy his chances of hacking 9-5 work if he can barely deal with football.

    That lovely goal away at Brighton, linked up brilliantly with McCourt. :)
    Still, always expected to roll up to football to find a sheepish Jacob Mellis & a smouldering hole in the ground where Oakwell used to be.. :eek:

    Southern are a basket case of a club. Signed Mellis even though he might not finish the season, and they’ve also had Nile Ranger training with them for weeks. Likely he’ll get a contract.

    I often read that Jacob Mellis is a 'wasted talent'.

    Honestly, I must be in a minority. I thought he was a very poor player, and well out of his depth when playing for us. He was an indictment of how we were at that time, a side punching above our weight, treading water at the bottom of the league. I didn't think he was up to the championship at least anyway, and never really looked like getting to that standard. He had the odd good game, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

    My opinion like.
